BioConvert: a conversion tool for genomic data
Developed by the Institut Pasteur’s “Biomics” and “Bioinformatics and Biostatistics” platforms, BioConvert (https://gitlab.pasteur.fr/salsa/bioconvert.) aims to address the multitude of bioinformatics formats and standards which, while sometimes complementary, are often redundant and represent a challenge for data analysis… BioConvert facilitates the conversion of life science data from one format to another by grouping existing software into a single framework and supplementing it with original code where necessary. It provides a common interface to simplify analysis. Currently, BioConvert supports some 50 formats and 100 direct conversions in areas such as alignment, sequencing, phylogeny and variant calling. In addition to its usefulness for users, BioConvert can also be deployed by developers as a universal reference framework for evaluating and comparing numerous conversion tools.
Finally, BioConvert offers a web interface that can be installed on web servers. A version is available at bioconvert.pasteur.cloud
