Sequencing Platform of the Institut Pasteur of Paris
The Biomics technology platform is a core facility of the Center for Technological Resources and Research (C2RT) of the Institut Pasteur. This structure is dedicated to next generation sequencing and provide access to long-read and short-read sequencing technologies. The mission of the Biomics platform is to facilitate scientific discovery within the International Pasteur Institute Network (IPIN). Biomics also works for research teams outside the RIIP and with the private sector. Biomics accepts both service and collaborative projects and works closely with the Center of Bioinformatics, Biostatistics and Integrative Biology (C3BI) and the Information Systems Department (ISD) to provide data analysis and storage solutions for researchers.
Our dedicated website, https://biomics.pasteur.fr, allows you to:
• Submit a project
• Ask questions (price, deadline, funding submission…)
• Follow the progress of your project
• Get information on the services offered
Expertise
The Biomics technology platform offers a wide range of technologies using high-throughput sequencing: resequencing, de novo sequencing, post-capture sequencing, search for structural variants, search for and characterization of new infectious agents, transcriptome and epigenome analysis (ChIP-seq).
Here are some examples of what we offer (Prokaryotes, Eukaryotes and Viruses):
1-Technology: Short-Reads (Illumina), Long-Reads (PacBio and Nanopore)
2-DNA-Seq : De novo and targeted sequencing
3-RNA-Seq: Transcriptional analysis
4-Metagenomics: Targeted (16S, 18S, ITS) or random (Shotgun) sequencing studies
4-Bioinformatics: Analysis of sequencing data (Variant, Assembly, transcriptomic studies…)

Main achievements
The Biomics technology platform carries out more than 150 projects annually for 89 different research teams with 15 collaborators (13 ETP). Microbiology and infectious diseases are its major fields of activity. In figures, the projects carried out consist of 50% of genomics (DNA-Seq), 30% of transcriptomics (RNA-Seq) and 20% of metagenomics (16S or Shotgun). In 2020, we sequenced nearly 12,000 samples in over 400 sequencing runs representing 24 Tera-bases. The platform is certified by the ISO 9001 quality management system with a focus on customer satisfaction and is a member of the ISIBA consortium.
